It isn't supossed to unless it's laced with something. Maybe your just freaking out being high, so your heart rate is increasing because your nervous. Although this drug is safer than alcohol, it is ILLEGAL and you should no use it at all.

i dont think it happens to me personally, but my mate says i happens to her when she smokes stuff from a different source. Maybe depends on the stuff added to it.

To add to the answer above, I tested my heart rate with a blood pressure monitor before and after smoking. Before it was at 82. After it was at 120. Despite popular belief, marijuana is a stimulant. So the answer is yes, but don't take my word for it, google it.
