A very long time ago, An undersea volcano erupted from the ocean's floor. Spewing its lava (molten rock), the volcano built an undersea mountain that grew higher and higher, eventually growing above the surface of the sea.
This was the beginning of the island we now call "Montserrat". Eventually the volcano calmed down and life colonized, Every since then there has always been moving magma under the Ground and about 500 years ago another Volcano erupted making the rest of the Island.
About 80 years ago they started having earthquakes, these were not caused by what we think normal quakes are caused from. These were cause from Magma being forced into different areas of the Island (still underground) The quakes started getting worse when magma erupts like this and does not show it is called a phreatic eruption,
