Most Mexicans live on the Central Mexican Plateau or Mexican Altiplano, where cities such Puebla, Toluca and Queretaro are located besides Mexico City (80-110 million out of 120 million for 2014). In a national scale, most people live in cities, as urbanization rate is approximately of 80%.

The main reason for this is that most of the Mexican Central Plateau has temperate, constant temperatures and a more gentle weather - unlike the suffocating deserts to the northwest or the hot and humid tropical regions to the south. It also means more fertile land, allowing for increased agriculture and population densities.
