The benefit of driving 4 wheel drive cars is that you have the option to engage or disengage the four wheel drive when you need to. Four wheel drive is great on low traction surfaces (off road, snow, etc.).

It will not disengage from four wheel drive until you find a cheat. I have done this before!
If you're in 4WD low, then the vehicle needs to be put in neutral before you can switch it back to 4WD HIGH or AWD.
First you put the vehicle on Neutral then swithc to 4LO it will engage. If a wheel doesn't engage, then you have a vaccum line problem. See owners manual.
does your front axle hav lockouts? engage them. What kind of axles do you have. Is the sshifteractually hooked up?
How do you engage four wheel drive on 1995 Chevy S-10?How do you engage four wheel drive on 1995 Chevy S-10?
You must stop, shift into neutral, then shift into 4x4 high/low and back into drive. To disengage, stop again, shift to neutral, then shift back in 2x4 and drive, for safety you should reverse about 10-15 feet to help disengage the shaft.
No it doesn't! Stays in auto 4 wheel
Four wheel drive will not disengage on a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban if the actuator has been damaged or the circuit has a short in it. Checking the fuse and connectors can be a quick repair.
