Why does my Nissan SR20 idle bad but when i rev it to about 5 and a half it just idles bad when i rev it normal while in 900rpm idles good not at 5 and a half?

i just changed the plugs on my 1979 frod 400 ci truck, and i had a similar problem. new platinum plugs, idles good in park, but feels like its slugish in acceleration. right now im actually getiing info on gapping my spark plugs and it sounds like that's what your car needs too.
You have a 96 silverado it idles high while in park 1500-2000rpm but in drive or reverse it goes to 1000rpm?
My '95 did the same thing. It was the Throttle position sensor.

I would guess, it is starving for fuel. Start by replacing the fuel filter. If that does not help, suspect the fuel pump.
