Why does my family choose my ex over me when he lied and stole breaking my heart and I am the considered the bad one and they do not care I am not at fault and it hurts so bad?

I'm 16 and i had the very same story as you (as i can see), my thoughts are, its because he sucked up to your family members, one of my ex's was a HUGE suck up to my family and when we broke up i told my family what the real reason was (because he was wanting to do things i didn't want to do and he always tried to force me to do the things) but they didn't believe me, they thought i was lying about it, they thought he was the one that ended the relationship but i was too embarrassed to say so (which wasn't true). What i did was showing them text messages, Facebook messages or even got my friends to say what they thought of the guy (because they really didn't get a good vibe off of him at the beginning when i was dating him, because we all went to the same school, so they see how he really acted away from my family members). But the hurt heart, i still am hurting i'm not gonna lie it will stay there for awhile. I would say he's not worth crying over, but you hear that so much that its a lie. Just hold in there, they will eventually realize what a "great guy" he really is.

• Families generally only see the good characteristics of a boyfriend their daughter is dating because the boyfriend makes sure he is always on his best behavior. Perhaps they have only seen you nag at him or show disgust with him and did not know why you were acting this way. Communication is extremely important in these situations. Sit down calmly (if you start yelling you will lose their attention) with your family and let them know what he did to you and you made up your mind to break off with him because of it and they should be happy for you that you had the intelligence and fortitude to do so. Trust in yourself and believe in who you are and what you want out of life no matter what your family thinks. Just because you are unpopular when you stick up for what you believe in (in this case yourself and you know what you do not want in a young man) throughout your life does not mean you should sit in the shadows and lick your wounds while those around you are disagreeing with you. YOU have to live with YOU! You have done the right thing so stick to what you have done and eventually your family will forget about it. There is someone special out there in the future for you that will treat you the way you should be treated, so hang onto your beliefs and move forward in your life. Talk to your best friend and get out with friends; enjoy yourself and then get back into dating again.
