An over bite is where the top of the teeth go over the bottom teeth. A pit bull should have a scissors bite, where the top teeth just go over the bottom teeth. A true overbite is where the top goes over too much over the bottom. A Bulldog has an underbite where the lower jaw sticks out more than the top.
