Persecution happens because there is a group of people who believe in a religion and if there are people that don't believe in that religion then they are evil and that they must convert. So they are persecuted and are beaten, tortured, put in concentration camps and even killed. All of this happens just because they believe in something diiferent. For example, christians that live in muslim-populated areas are often persecuted because the muslims believe that they must convert or be wiped of the face of the earth.
