cause piggy is a bossy perfectionist pig.
Jack does not reveal Piggy's name to the rest of the boys. During the first meeting Jack tells Piggy to, "shut up Fatty." To which Ralph replies, "His name isn't Fatty it's Piggy." Until that point Ralph was the only one who knew Piggy's nickname as Piggy had earlier told him, "I don't mind what they call me as long as it isn't what the boys called me at school...Piggy."
Ralph, Piggy, and Simon represent rationality, civilization, and morality, which puts them in conflict with the other boys who succumb to their primal urges for power and violence. The three boys' values clash with the growing savagery and chaos within the group of boys, leading to tension and conflict.
Jack's attack on Piggy and the breaking of one of the lenses in his spectacles symbolize the degeneration of the group because at one time the group was whole and all together and then they started to break away from the big group just like Piggy's glasses once were one full piece of glass and then they got broken apart.
Piggy attempts to maintain the reason and order that they inherited from being British while on the island. He is arguably the most mature boy on the island. The rest of the boys are more open to letting themselves go and becoming more savage. Piggy attempts to preserve some civility.
Yes - this makes Piggy even more of an outsider, and of course makes the contrast of him having no parents and Ralph's glorified father even more stark. Additionally, we can assume he understands the pain of death and the significance of it, and so when Simon dies he is one of the few who become noticeably affected by it; contrary to the ignorance of the rest of the boys.
There is an extremely large amount of possibilities of money combinations that could be within a piggy bank. We must first note that some piggy banks differ in size, but the real problem is with the change itself. The piggy bank could be filled with all pennies, all quarters, 10 dimes and the rest quarters, and so on. The possibilities are limitless.
After the fire was allowed to go out and the boys missed an opportunity for being rescued Jack managed to accept criticism from Ralph. However when Piggy also spoke against him Jack had an easy target on whom to vent his anger and frustration. Jack punched Piggy in the stomach, which made the fat boy sit down with a bump. Then Jack slapped Piggy's head, which send Piggy's glasses flying and resulted in one of the lenses breaking.
To quote directly from the book... '... and his glasses still flashed when he looked at anything. He was the only boy on the island whose hair never seemed to grow. The rest were shock-headed, but Piggy's hair still lay in wisps over his head...'
Piggy is the one who said, on page 84, "Life....is scientific that's what it is."
Piggy lends an adult perspective and adult suggestions to the boys meetings. Piggy is an outsider who doesn't act, think or speak like the other boys. He is logical, practical and less inclined to wild imaginings than some of the other boys. On a purely practical level without Piggy and his glasses the boys could never have started a fire. Piggy was also the person who suggested, when they thought that the beast was on the mountain top, that they could simply light a new signal fire near the beach. When Ralph pauses when speaking and seems to lose the train of his thoughts (petit mal epilepsy?) Piggy is always on hand to remind him what it was that he meant to say, which is usually reminding the rest of the boys of the need to be rescued.
The OLDEST person in mindless behavior is prodigy being one year older then the rest of the group
Prior to holding a feast on the beach Jack, accompanied by four hunters visited Ralph's group at the shelters. Two unnamed hunters grabbed burning braches and ran off along the beach with them. Jack, flanked by Maurice and Robert, delivered a speech inviting the rest of the boys to his feast. Later in the book Jack selected Roger and Maurice to accompany him on his raid to 'get fire' from Ralph's group, infact they stole Piggy's glasses.
