Tile moves heat faster than wood. Wood is more of an insulator than tile. The feeling felt has do to with the speed at which heat is removed by tile.

If the wooden floor is going directly onto terrazo there is no way to nail it.
A wooden floor is easier to clean with a mop and it gets stains out faster than a carpeted floor. Carpet has a lot more stains and messes which is harder to clean.
