Best Answer

because when you add a solid to a liquid the water get denser because a solid is denser than a liquid so the liquid takes up the same amount of room but has mor molecules. If you have a blown up balloon and a rock the exact same size which is heavier? say the rock is twice the weight of the balloon and you some how mix them together it will weigh 3x the balloon started out as and be twice the size. if you mix two balloons together they will only weigh 2x and be twice the size. the same size different weights different materials. now the balloons is the water the rock is the salt.
