Science is the process of determining that which can be known about the natural world.

Anecdote and opinion are not disregarded, but are, rather, treated as precisely what they are, narrative stories and personal observations or beliefs.

Because human beings are capable of creating fiction, and because human beings are relatively poor and biased observers, ALL observational claims and all narrative stories must be treated skeptically as potentially fictitious, or erroneous.
Even a theory is nothing more than an opinion, and as such, must be suspect of error or bias.

Science subjects all ideas, anecdotes and opinions to verification.
That is, it does not matter what you claim to be reliably true.. science demands that you must be able to Demonstrate that it is reliably, replicably true.

Also, sincerity has no bearing on science. all delusions seem real to the deluded... You can be absolutely convinced that you saw a ghost, but if you can not demonstrate to anyone else unequivocal evidence of a ghost, then you have no way of proving that your experience was not entirely in your own head.

Science treats even the grandest hypothesis as if it is no better than opinion.
Science even treats experimental results as being no better than anecdote.

All ideas are subject to falsifiability...
All results are verified thru other scientists repeating your experiments to determine if your observations can be trusted to be accurate.

Only when theory has been repeatedly proven to predict observation, only when repeated experimentation has consistently provided the same results does science invest any claim with provisional acceptance.

Why can't science answer beliefs or opinions?

Science can impact beliefs and opinions only to the extent that the beliefs and opinions are based on repeatable observations of physical processes that can be subjected to experiment.

Is science a fact or an opinion?

Science is proven facts not opinions.

Does science ignore opinions?

Opinions are different than scientific hypothesis. A hypthesis is an idea that can (or at least we think can) be tested by the scientific method. Opinions can be anything... personal beliefs, religious ideas, dilusions... really anything and like all people, scientists can have opinions. Opinions really have nothing to do with science and because they are not scientifically testable, some may feel that science is ignoring their opinions.

What are the two opinions?

science vs. religion

What is science and what science is not?

Science is the systematic, reasoned study of the physical world through observation and experiment. Efforts to explain the world that presuppose an answer are outside the realm of science, as are explanations that disregard contradictory observations and experiments. oh yea it is.

What is science implication?

Science implication is the facts of what might actually happen, versus opinions of what others think will happen. This practice happens in science all the time.

How do facts in science differ from opinions Give an example of a fact and an example of an opinion?

Facts differ from opinions because facts are things that can be proven or tested. Opinions are personal beliefs or judgements. Example of a fact in science: The Periodic Table of Elements is a tabular arrangement of the chemical elements according to atomic number as based on the periodic law. Example of an opinion in science: I think that the vinegar and baking soda will not react.

Is sociology a part of science?

There are differing opinions, more traditional scientists would say yes whereas many modern scientists would apply the reductionist argument to say it is not pure enough to be a science. Many businesses and organisations would class a degree in sociology as a science degree, like I said, differing opinions.

How is science different than other fields?
