It MIGHT see some service amongst special operations forces, but the L85/SA80 rifle is still standard. A number of British police forces, however, have semi automatic only G36 rifles available to their armed police. A major part of the reason is that Heckler & Koch was British owned at the time these acquisitions were made.

If you're talking about the HK G36C from a sporting goods store, no, the KWA mag won't work. The HK licensed G36s that pop up in sporting goods store use a proprietary magazine.
