In 1936, the Americans refused to dip the flag to Adolph Hitler and thereby show no support to Nazi Germany. Ridiculous as it may seem to the rest of the world, this is now a tradition for them.

This is not the reason. The US Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, section 176 states:

Respect for flagNo disrespect should be shown to the flag of the United States of America; the flag should not be dipped to any person or thing.It is neither a "tradition" nor ridiculous nor did it start with the 1936 Olympics. It is how a US citizen is taught to honor and show respect for our flag.
In most countries, yes. You sing the national anthem to show your loyalty, respect, and honor for your country.
The United States has a Medal of Honor as it highest award for bravery. Other countries have a Cross of Honor or such. There may be other countries that have a medal by that name but when translated it may come out as something different.
