Why does the car not want to start?

Two major causes for an engine to fail to start are:

1) ignition fault, &

2) fuel circuit problems

Use a spark testing tool to determine if you have a good, blue-colored spark when the engine is cranked over. If so, the problem shouldn't be ignition. An exception to this is if the plug wires have been switched from their original order. If that happens, refer to a repair manual under "Ignition timing".

If you have good ignition, the problem may be that the engine is not getting any fuel, or too little fuel to start. This could be caused by an empty fuel tank (bad gas gage), inoperative fuel pump, blocked fuel line or fuel filter, or malfunctioning fuel injectors.
