Need to know what code(s) were set and which O2 sensor you changed in order to help you.
It is screwed into the exhaust manifold on the rear of the engine.
The check engine light will illuminate with a code(s) directing which O2 sensor is bad.
The oxygen sensor is screwed into the exhaust, behind the engine.
oxygen sensor
Your O2 sensor is a "part that is designed to wear out". there is no standard on replacing them, but if your car is running fine, and your check engine light comes on, and stays on, it's probably an O2 sensor.

the first sensor should be on the back of the engine, in the downpipe for the exhaust, the second is in the cat, you need a special socket to install oxygen sensors (because of the wire, which can be cut off old ones for removal, and then taken out with a normal deep socket)
There are two oxygen sensor, follow the exhaust coming out of the engine. one in the front and one in the back of the engine. if you engine code p0135 bank1 these is oxygen is located between firewall and engine. or p0755 oxygen located in front of the engine
How do you change oxygen sensor in 1992 Toyota corolla? Is there a model engine 4A-FE without a oxygen sensor?
A malfunctioning oxygen sensor can cause the engine to be low on power.
behind the engine
A HO2 sensor (heated oxygen sensor) moniters the level of oxygen in the exhaust and sends that information to the engine control module.
