How does the number of types of organism in an ecosystem affect the stability of that ecosystem?

What happens if over populated

How can overpopulation of a species be a problem to an ecosystem?

Over population of a particular species will cause the food chain in that ecosystem to become unstable. Over population will also reduce the amount of producers within an ecosystem (depending if the over population is of a consumer) and will lead to the decrease of other animal species inhabiting the same ecosystem.

Why does study of homeostesis misleading in ecology?

I'm not sure of the context of this question, so more details would be helpful, but my initial impression would be this. Homeostasis is the idea of all parts within an organism working together to create a balance - a regulation of the whole to maintain constant conditions or always return to what we would call an equilibrium state. Ecology is a broad field, but if you take a whole ecosystem, the idea of homeostasis is misleading. There is no true constant or equilibrium state of an ecosystem if you follow an ecosystem over a long enough time period. Ecosystems go through dynamic states. Fire, for example is natural and essential part to some ecosystems. It changes the entire ecosystem, and the ecosystem passes through several stages of succession following a fire.

What part of the world can an ecosystem be found in?

an ecosystem can be found almost all over the world. one example of an ecosystem is a coral reef which can be found in most tropical oceans or seas

What is the over all flow of energy through an ecosystem?

Energy in an ecosystem flows in whats called the 10% rule. Meaning, as you move up the pyramid 10% of energy is lost.

Can fishing threaten the ocean ecosystem?

It can if a species is over fished there needs to be constant conservation and protections of fish to keep their numbers up.

What is an unsteady flow?

An unsteady flow refers to a fluid flow where the properties at a specific point in the flow field change with time. This could be due to variations in velocity, pressure, or density over time. It contrasts with steady flow, where these properties remain constant at any given point in the flow field over time.

What is a good definition for erosion?

Erosion is when a specific area is worn down over time by the constant flow of water.

Is rainfall in the coral reef ecosystem?

yes it is.it is an abiotic factor because it will over flow the sea and then fish will die cuse they are out of water.

What best describes the flow of energy and the movement of chemical compounds in an ecosystem?

The flow of energy through an ecosystem is described as one-way or linear. This means that energy enters the ecosystem and passes through it without being recycled. Energy enters in the from of light (via photosynthesis) and leaves as heat. Heat is not used as a source of energy by living organisms. Chemical compounds can be recycled, so their movement is cyclical in an ecosystem. The same atoms are used over and over again, so your body will contain atoms that were in the bodies of dinosaurs, for example.

i am only a 5th grader and we just went over that and when a organisum eats a organisum then it gets energy from eating it

Why are cheetahs valuable to our ecosystem?

It is valuable because they keep our ecosystem balanced by killing prey and not letting them over populate. If there was no cheetahs they will over populate and the ecosystem will be unbalanced

Steady flow and non steady examples?

Steady flow: laminar flow over a sphere. Unsteady flow: turbulent flow over anything.
