You may not have enough coolant. If you've recently drained and replaced your coolant, replaced all the coolant after replacing a leaking line, etc., you may have an air pocket in the system, which will need to be 'burped' out.

Heat transfer occurs by convection, conduction and radiation. In conduction, heat is transferred through collision of rapidly moving molecules. It is only through successive collision of molecules that heat transfers through an object.
the smoke comes out the rear of the car in a pipe. the smoke comes out only when the engine is on. you do not have to be moving to have smoke come out. just the fact that the engine is on creates smoke due to the byproduct of the fuel and energy.
