Most states require the seller to provide a 30 day warranty of serviceability. This car is not serviceable with low oil pressure, so try seeing if the seller will repair the car. I suggest you start by replacing the filter, as you possibly have a defective filter. Replace it with an AC/Delco filter which is an excellent filter and is OEM. If that does not work replace the oil pressure sending unit. If you still have low oil pressure, then you will need to have an oil pressure test run to see exactly what your pressure is. Do not drive the car until you have this repaired. OR THE MIGHT HAVE NOT RESET THE OIL CHANGE LIGHT TURN IT TO RUN POSITION AND WITHIN THE FIRST FIVE SECONDS PUMP THE GAS PEDAL 3 TIMES ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR FAST THEN START THE CAR AND IT WILL GO AWAY.
The gas filter on 2001 Malibu is where the gas filter for any of the cars would be located at. It is located next to the gas tank and can be changed easily.
It requires a special tool that can be purchased at a parts store.
It has a permanent filer that is changed when the fuel pump is replaced.
