I wish I had the answer to this, my 2002 explorer does the same thing and it is driving me crazy ! I have tried everything. Hope you get some answers!!
The flashing lights are probably the factory alarm.
You keep on bouncing.
When I'm driving my 1995 Ford Explorer I don't make any sudden turns on the steering wheel when I'm driving at a higher speed so I have always managed to keep the dirty side down in the last 15 years
check the fluid in your engine it might be low.
Has your gauge lighting dimmer switch ( to the right of your headlight switch ) been turned all the way down ( or to one side ? ) Depending on the year of Ford Explorer that can keep your interior lights from coming on when you open a door
If it's not in a spot, which is really convenient to the spare, or new tire, then just keep it stowed in the back.
I've known two people that had 1995 Ford Windstars and they both complained about the amount of repairs that they had to do to keep using them , and yet I'm still driving my 1995 Ford Explorer and have been very satisfied with it
