What is the charge most commonly formed by S?

Sulfur can form the sulfide ion (S2-) and the disulfide ion (S22-) on its own. When combined with oxygen it can form the sulfate ion (SO42-) and sulfite ion (SO32-).

Ferrous is the traditional name of the iron (II) ion. (Fe 2+) The formula for ferrous sulfide is FeS since sulfur has a charge of -2.

Using the periodic table predict the charge of a sulfide ion?

Sulfide ion is S2- ion it is formed from the element sulfur gains two electrons. Sulfur belongs to group 16, period 3.

What is the symbol for an ion with 16 protons 16 neutrons and 18 electrons?

S for sulfur because the number of protons tells you the atomic number with is 16 and 16 is sulfur. The electrons means it is an ion with two more electrons than protons. The neutrons have no charge but add mass to the element.

What is The Net Charge On A Sulfide Ion (S2) and How does This Ion Obtains Its Charge?

The charge is 2- and it obtains that because it has 6 valence electrons. It is willing to accept 2 more in the valence shell to satisfy the octet, and thus it becomes 2-.

When an atom becomes on ion with a two-charge the atom?

The group 2 elements form ions with a 2+ charge. For example, Mg2+ and Ca2+. The group 16 elements form ions with a 2- charge. For example, O2- and S2-.

Ion symbol for 16 protons and 18 electrons?

Look at the periodic table. You see that the element that has 16 protons is Sulfur. Electrons have a single negative charge, while protons have a single positive charge, so an ion with 2 more electrons than protons will have a charge of 2-. So, the symbol of the ion would be S2- .
