When working properly, that light only comes on when one of the drive wheels (front wheels) slips during acceleration. In other words, if your foot is in the gas and the front wheels slip, the light is supposed to come on to tell you that it occurred.
BUT, if it comes on either randomly or just stays on, it typically means that there is a problem with one of the wheel sensors or connectors.

The 2003 Saturn L200 has a camshaft position sensor. It is located on the bottom front of engine behind the Starter. You will need to remove the two bolts that are holding the Starter to get to the sensor.
