The original 1900 book edition and the beloved 1939 film version of 'The Wizard of Oz' may not agree on their telling of the adventures of Dorothy Gale and her pet dog Toto in the beautiful, enchanted, magical lands of Oz. But an instance where they agree is the how-to of melting a witch. In both formats, the Wicked Witch of the West is melted into nothingness by having a bucket of water thrown on her.
Its either because in Oz the rule is water melts witches or water melts evil things. But I've never been sure how the physics of the land of Oz worked.
The Wicked Witch of the West saw the protective mark from the kiss of the Good Witch of the North on Dorothy's forehead, and the Silver Slippers that had belonged to the Wicked Witch of the East on Dorothy's feet. She could tell that Dorothy didn't realize the strong protection of the former, and had no idea of the secret power of the latter. So she tripped Dorothy, and grabbed one of the Silver Slippers. She was going to take the other away. But Dorothy threw a bucket of water on her. That made the Witch melt into brown sugar. As a witch with witchly powers, she had underestimated Dorothy's human abilities. So the Witch said that she didn't expect for her life to end in response to anything a mere girl could do against her.
In the beloved 1939 film version of 'The Wizard of Oz', the Wicked Witch of the West screams as the water that Dorothy Gale throws hits her in the face. As she's melting, she manages to say:'Ohhh - you cursed brat! Look what you've done! I'm melting! Melting! Oh - what a world - what a world! Who would have thought a good little girl like you could destroy my beautiful wickedness!? Ohhh! Look out! Look out! I'm going. Ohhhh! Ohhhhhh...'.The feelings are the same as, but expressed differently from, the original 1900 book edition of the film. In the book 'The Wonderful Wizard of Oz', the Witch says:'See what you have done! In a minute I shall melt away. Didn't you know water would be the end of me? Well, in a few minutes I shall be all melted, and you will have the castle to yourself. I have been wicked in my day, but I never thought a little girl like you would ever be able to melt me and end my wicked deeds. Look out - here I go!'

The Earth's surface heats up and cools down, causing air to rise and fall, which in turn drives atmospheric circulation. The Earth's rotation causes the Coriolis effect, influencing wind patterns. Additionally, the Earth's topography and land-sea distribution play a role in shaping local weather patterns and climate.
