There is always an initial environmental impact. There is the cost of materials to make the windmills and the cost of the production and ongoing maintenance. It is also claimed there is an impact on birds that sometimes die after flying into the blades and a small impact on the land below, though farmers can still graze stock under the windmills. Balancing that is the production of free electricity from the wind.

Even though wind turbines do not directly pollute during operation the way they are manufactured pollutes. The construction in remote areas is potentially also a danger to birds and bats and some claim even livestock. Some find turbines are also aesthetically displeasing and that they could ruin the landscape.

How does wind energy affect the environment?

Wind energy does not help the environment exactly. But using other sources of energy such as burning fossil fuels or using nuclear power can hurt the environment. So wind is less hurtful 6 these other sources energy in many ways because wind energy does not create harmful waste products (CO2 in the case of fossil fuels and radioactive waste were nuclear power). Wind energy has it's own problems however: it has been show that the turbines can kill birds that fly into them, and some people find them ugly to look at. There are no sources of energy that are known that HELP the environment. There are just some that hurt it less than others. The best way to help the environment is to let it be undisturbed!!

Why is wind energy described as clean energy?

Wind energy is considered as clean energy from the view point that wind power plants do not emit in the course of power production pollutants to the environment as carbon oxides, sulfur oxides, ashes, heavy metals, ... etc. However, wind energy is not 100% clean through the full wind power plant cycle length from the manufacturing of wind power plants components; their transport to site, maintenance, ..., until decommissioning.

What is an aeolian environment?

An aeolian environment is one dominated by wind or the effects of wind or by wind-borne sediment.

What are 5 differences between solar and wind energy?

solar energy is energy from the sun and wind energy is energy from the wind

Where the wind energy source is found and how it is recovered?

Wind energy is recovered by changing wind energy to electricity

Is wind energy widely accepted?

Wind energy should be widely accepted as it produces energy which doesn't pollute the environment . Artifical resources such as petroleum , diesel destroy the ozone layer of the Earth . Wind energy does not pollute the environment . So wind energy should be accepted and widely launched .

Why is wind energy good for environment?

Energy from wind is less detrimental to the environment than most other electricity generation. Wind turbines need complex and advanced production facilities that pollute. Wind energy is not just good for the environment because there is noise pollution and the placement can affect certain wildlife.

What are the effect on environment because of non conventional energy?

Which scource of energy would be the most economical and safest for the community to pursue?

Can using wind energy damage the environment?

for erosion of rock.....

Does water turbines affect the environment?

Yes, water turbines effect the environment they turn kinetic energy (the waves energy) into mechanical energy, then to electrical energy so we can turn our lights on and off and use the computer you are using now. There are also wind turbines or windmills that do the same but instead of using waves they harness the energy of the wind. Environmental science will be very helpful in the future and everyone needs to do more to go green!

How does a tornado effect the people and environment?

It would effect the environment by knocking down trees and people by blowing them over from the wind or even killing them.

What is the advantages of the wind energy?

One advantage of wind energy is that it doesnâ??t add toxic chemicals into the environment. Another advantage is that wind is a free natural resource.

Why do you use wind energy?

Because wind energy is a sustainable form of energy production. This means it produces no emissions, and is free to run. Also, the supply of energy (the wind) will never run out. It's far better for the environment.

Why should you use wind energy?

It does not pollute the air with harmful gasesThere are many reasons to why one must use wind energy. Wind energy is the fastest growing energy sector in the United States . The main purpose of wind energy is the production of electricity. Also, Wind energy does not pollute the environment and is found in plenty.
