Strictly speaking, we do not "need" soap. Â?The human race survived very well without it for thousands of years.
Having soap makes our lives a lot easier. Â?Every day, our skin sheds billions of dead cells. Â?Bacteria grow on our skins, we sweat, we get residue of air pollution on our skins when we go outside for a few minutes. Â?We get covered in car exhaust fumes and other harmful things. Â?
Soap dissolves these things quickly and efficiently. Â?To get the same effect without using soap, we would have to stand under a shower and use a nailbrush to scrub and scrub at our skins for a long time, which isn't good. Â?
Think of a plate that has had greasy fried egg, bacon, sausage and tomato on it. The plate has been left until the person gets home from work, so all that grease has dried on to the plate. Â?It is perfectly possible to clean the plate without soap detergent, but it is much quicker and easier to do it with soap detergent.
