The thermostat is located in the water inlet where the radiator hose connects from the radiator to the engine.
Drain the radiator. disconnect the top radiator hose from the engine. Remove the water inlet that the hose was hooked to. The thermostat is in the housing. Replace the gasket when replacing the thermostat.

Replacing a thermostat in a car is easily done. A 2000 Chrysler is done like any other car. You open the hood, and locate the thermostat near where you put water in, and then you just remove it with a wash cloth.
