There are many reasons for the ABS light to come on. It really depends on the year of the GM vehicle. Common causes are the one of the front wheel speed sensors is bad. Or possibly the wiring harness going to one of the front sensors. A scan of the system is needed to determine wherethe problem is. Tech JK --------------------------------------------
Repair the ABS system so it functions.
Bring to a shop that has an ABS scanner to determine problem or clear codes
Fix the problem causing them to be on.
When this happened on our 2001 Malibu it was the sensors at the wheels that were faulty and not the brakes. Somehow they had been incorrectly installed after a previous brake check.
you have to fix the problem or the light will just come back on until you do.
Yes, the 2002 Malibu has an ABS system with sensors at all four wheels.
There is a problem with the ABS. Take it to a professional.
the ABS light indicates a problem in in Abs system, a brake light indicates a problem with main braking system. such as low fluid level, leaks in system, parking brake on etc. Abs system works in conjunction to brake system. but abs system is not the main or basic braking system.
some do and some don't, it was an option.
If the original problem that caused the abs light to come on was fixed, the light will reset itself after a short drive. If the light remains on, you still have a problem with the abs system.
the amber ABS light indicates a problem with the ABS system, not the main braking system. but the main braking system is working.
problem with the abs, get it fixed
