Not really. The decibel is a measurement of the intensityof sound. A Bel is a factor of 10 of a power source. A decibel is a tenth of a Bel and is a ratio of one quantity to a reference quantity, on a log scale. Many entities including distances, weights, and other physical entities could be expressed in decibels.
