Its probably because you burnt the pizza in the oven.
If you able to restart after a few minutes, then your CMP is defective.
Sounds like a crank sensor - a car of mine did that and that was the cause of its failure.
If the check engine light is on...might be a dirty EGR valve.
Sounds like it could be vapor locking. Try putting a few wooden clothes pins on fuel line
The most common issue is a fuel filter. It could be a few other things, but the fuel filter is where I would start.
crankshaft position sensor.
If your Dakota shuts down after 5 or 10 seconds then change the map sensor. If it shuts down after 3 or 4 minutes of driving and won't restart look for a bad harmonic balancer. Experienced both!
you must replace a sensor that is located on top of the bell housing unit . you must stick your hand between the fire wall and the engine. this is nothing but a magnet that detects the #1 piston in your engine. it costs around $120.00 if you do it yourself you will be saving around $400.00 in labor. I think it's called a cranking sensor good luck
check your coil
While driving my car died. The check engine, brake and battery light all came on. It did restart after about 10 minutes and died again 10 minutes later after idling for about 5 minutes. What would cause this? You have to take your car to a shop that can read the obdII fault codes. And then take it from there ...
