No recorder means that it doesn't see a valid CD or DVD recorder hardware attached to the system. You may need to re-install the software or replace your burner.
If you want to copy a disk, you need a blank CD, the original CD, a programme (Nero startsmart,roxio etc.)to copy. insert a blank CD. go on Nero. go to copy CD. insert original CD. it will copy it.then insert the blank CD back and the data will be in the blank CD.
we are using blank because if we are not inserting anything in colorimeter and keeping it open then the light from the surrounding may affect it's absorbance causing damage

If you are trying to burn the application from where you've installed it, it doesn't work that way. You need to simply dump the installation files to disk using Nero, Roxio or the default Windows burn to disc protocol by dragging and dropping on the CD-ROM while a blank disk is in it.
