The most common cause of painless rectal bleeding is an internal hemorrhoid. They are painless because the inner part of the anus doesn't have any pain receptors, as opposed to external hemorrhoids which are painful. But if you are having rectal bleeding you need to schedule an appointment with your doctor to get it checked out because though it is likely hemorrhoids, which is a benign condition, it is important to rule out some other serious diseases like colon cancer.
