That is a lower grade of fuel then your engine was designed to burn. That is called detonation of fuel which means the fuel is burn before the piston is in the right position to be pushed down in the power stroke,

Adjusting the timing is required if the fuel grade is correct. The sound itself is the piston about to go into power stroke is pushing slightly against the rest of the engine.
