* It stimulates certain glands that have endorphins * it creates a general bond between owner and cat * stroking also feels like licking to the cat...as if they are being groomed by their mother or another cat. * it also calms them down and helps in keeping them alert and awake by stimulating the parts of the spinal cord think like a cat!
