To fix this problem, either get a new rooster, or buy more hens so that they are not being ridden so much. You should also invest in some "chicken saddles" for your hens, so that they are not injured any longer from the rooster.

If this is not the case, this could be a outward sign that your birds are infested with mites. You should look for any signs of mites, then treat your birds if necessary.

They must raise their heads because they must take a breath. If they keep on drinking, believe it or not, their stomachs will be filled with water and it will jiggle in the chicken's stomach when it is walking. So that is the reason why chicken's raise their heads after drinking.
