Your hens may be loosing feathers on their backs because either the rooster is being to rough, or he is mounting them too often. To fix this problem, either get a new rooster, or buy more hens so that they are not being ridden so much. You should also invest in some "chicken saddles" for your hens, so that they are not injured any longer from the rooster.

If this is not the case, this could be a outward sign that your birds are infested with mites. You should look for any signs of mites, then treat your birds if necessary.
