It may be that it is playing with it. If you dog is a puppy this is most likely to happen. Otherwise the best way to stop them from doing it (if you want them to) is to use positive reinforcement (catch them in the act, tell them no or get them to stop attacking it. After a few seconds of good non attacking behavior, reward them with a treat.)
My dog doesnt hold a blanket in her mouth but instead she sucks on it. My dog didnt have a good life when she was a puppy, so we think it reminds her of her mommy. Your dog might do it because of that or because shes excited.
The dog is trying to show dominance. If there is no one around that the dog can dominate, an inanimate object will suffice.
If you want to eliminate such an unwanted behavior you need to start by establishing a daily routine where all of your dog needs will be satisfied and he will get plenty of exercise.
A satisfied dog will show less dominate behavior.

Dogs sleep in circles so they can keep them selves warm. Its not like they knew blankets existed! Anyways its not like they can sleep on their backs or bellies! or can they? No they can't.
Why does my 15 yr old dog lick blankets

Its part of many dogs instinct, when it comes to trying to nurse blankets and pillow sometimes young dogs get confused if the lay on the pillows or blankets a lot there cent is all over it and therefore smells like themselves, it hold there cent and when they give birth the pups carry there cent, my advise wash the pillows and blankets more often and see how it goes.
no but electric blankets do
Some blankets do like the thermal electric blankets from the manufacturer.
Dachshunds are indoor dogs and should be kept inside at night. They love to burrow into blankets because they have a burrowing instinct. Dachshunds were originally bred to go underground to chase badgers. Your dachshund should be given blankets or towels to hide under when sleeping because it makes them feel secure.
Material wise, no. But, comforters are usually sold in sets instead of individually like blankets.
IM NOT SURE IF THERE IS A SCIENTIFIC ANSWER , BUT MY DOG DOES IT ALL THE TIME. I GUESS ITS LIKE HUMANS FLUFFING THEIR PILLOWS AND PULLING UP THEIR BLANKETS. ITS A COMFORT THING.
