It's not coming on in my car. I keep my car in good repair. ---Update--- It regularly means maintainence required.
'Well I have a 95 Buick LeSabre, and the check engine light keeps coming on. So I asked a guy at car-x, and he said that usually occurs when you go really slow on the interstate.'
maybe you have low oil pressure?
Disconnecting the battery cable for a few minutes will reset the check engine light. If the light comes back on you will have to get the issue fixed or it will keep coming on.
If the check engine light is coming on it is because you have a problem with the emissions system. Have the ECU scanned to retrieve the code that has been set. This code will tell you what part is being effected and may help you diagnose the problem.

Take it to Autozone and have them read the check engine error code. That's where you start.
Faulty sensor get it replaced if not check to make sure wire isn't shorting out
faulty connections in multi-plug feeding glow plugs, i had same prob, test power to all glow plugs, they are wired in banks of 2. back 2 front 2, the faulty plug is under bonnet at the back near head on n/s
That is the same as the check engine light. You will need to have the system checked for codes to know possible causes.
