Most people DON'T want to hear this, but the way you sound on a recording, is the way you truly sound. Now, different recording devises might sound a little different than others. For example, I notices a cell phone is way off, and a microphone is more like my voice. On a cell phone, your voice might be distorted during the process of recording. But also it is mainly the way you sound . Thing is, you hear yourself internally and externally, meaning you hear the vibrations from inside your body (like bones), resulting in you hearing your voice differently than others.

You are not used to hearing your own voice wavelengths, your vocal cords do not correspond with the wavelengths and pitch of your voice, thus saying that your voice will sound different

its due to the special movement of jaw bones i presume.......

but the recorded voice of others seem to be similar to you with their original.

Other answer:

The sound of your voice is created by guiding air (breath) through the vocal chords. What everyone else hears is the sound that results from that.

However, the sound is also carried on inside you. So when you hear yourself, your ears get signals both from outside, and from the resonating sounds inside that are not recorded through a microphone.

Many people may not like this answer, but the way you sound on a recording is the way you really sound. The voice you hear when you talk or sing is not your real voice.
