Well we just finished the book and my opinion on this that because he knows that his wife is at home he's trying to get back to her. And besides, while Calypso may have loved him, Circe was just a seductress, trying to distract him.

Odysseus doesn't give his heart to Calypso or Circe because his heart belongs to his wife Penelope. Despite the allure and temptations of the goddesses, Odysseus remains faithful and devoted to his wife throughout his journey back home. His love for Penelope is a central theme in Homer's epic, The Odyssey.

Besides a Goddess, Calypso is considered to be a temptation to Odysseus, which in some cases are true. He was willing to be with her for years, although his heart still longed to go back to Ithaca and be with his wife. Calypso is not exactly like the other obstacles/problems Odysseus faces, it is just that she basically prolonged his trip to return home to Ithaca.
