Why doesn't a usb port work even after a reset of the bios and a reinstall of all the usb preferences in the device manager?

The physical USB controller might be shot.
If the port is on the front of the base unit, check the able going from the port to the motherboad, reseat the cable at the mother board.
If the port is at the back of the base unit, built onto the motherboard, it may be a hardware fault, may need replacing.

If you have customized the USB into a mac it may show up in My Computer as a floppy disk or drive, I don't know how to change it back though, if this is the case, your USB should work fine on macs. Hope this helps :B
Can you set the default on a canon imagerunner 3570 to print duplex?
Go to your Start Menu - Printers --- pick the Canon IR3570 and right click on it . Go to Printing Preferences and in the driver that opens up go to the Finishing tab and change the Duplex to single sided . Then click apply. If it doesnt take your driver is probably loaded on the server so your IT manager would have to change it there.
