The taste of salt is... saltiness.
salt
You taste salt with the taste buds on the tip of your tongue. These taste buds are sensitive to salty flavors and send signals to your brain to interpret the taste of salt.
Rainwater is relatively pure because it forms by condensation of water vapor in the atmosphere. When raindrops form, they do not contain the impurities present in the surrounding air or on the Earth's surface. However, as rain falls through the atmosphere and contacts pollutants in the air or on surfaces, it can pick up impurities.
