Before Sanji did that, Oda said he is aware the fan base was very curious about Sanji's left eye, but he wouldn't show it, just to tease his fans.

Why is Sanji's left eye covered?
Well, first it was because one of the great mysteries of One Piece was Sanji's left eye. Very recently, he's switched to it though, so now he covers his right eye. He has to show one at a time, because his eyebrows aren't the same. Since it's a spoiler, I'll leave it at that & just say you should read the new One Piece chapter to see.
