A brand new music app may not work because it's not compatible with the device. Try uninstalling and reinstalling just in case it didn't install correctly the first time.

Check the software you have. If you have software that is older than the latest version of the iPod Touch 2.0 software, that may be your problem. It might also be that the app you have doesn't work with the iPod Touch 3.0 software that you may have. If none of this is your problem, then it is the app. Re-download and install it for it to try to work.
