You have wired it incorrectly.
If your radio will not shut off when you turn off the car, there may be an issue with the wiring. If your car has the feature where your radio will not turn off until you open the door, that is normal. However, if you have an aftermarket radio, the wiring is most likely the cause.
The radio wiring would be found behind the wiring, and to the fusebox of the car. It would be found throughout the car to the speakers as well.Ê
whats the wiring color codes for my 98 sentra radio
Some cars have a time delay before it turns off. I had a Buick Park Avenue that was like that. If you open the door the radio should go off. If not, you may have a wiring problem.
Often when a car radio in not working a blown fuse is the culprit. It also could be a wiring problem or a defective radio.

Turn your radio off before you shut your car off.
i have a 95 Spirit and have the same problem. It is getting power to the radio (back lit, and tape player will rewind, but the clock display doesnt work, and the radio doesnt work (which sucks). Sometimes it will turn on when I start my car, but once the car is running, there is 0% chance of the radio coming on, even if I start banging around the radio. THis leads me to believe that is not a loose wire, but something in the ignition? Any input would be appreciated! I to had the same prob with the radio in a 90 Caravan which also carrys the same radio setup as the Dodge Spirit... its a short in the radio that aventually developes... theres nothing wrong with wiring... i took the radio setup out of my 92 Spirit (cause trans went out) and put it into the Caravan and still works fine, so its not a wiring prob... just a prob with the radio itself.
What is the wiring diagram for the car stereo on a 1997 Ford thunder bird
I am pretty sure it is just the radio wiring harness. I am guessing your car has no radio, but they put the radio wiring harness in anyway. On our car, which was a two door, the wiring went to both doors. It was extremely easy to put in a radio and speakers. The speaker size requirement for our doors was just a generic size speaker.
