Sorry to hear about your loss, it happens to all pet lovers sooner or later. What you are experiencing is a common and quite natural reaction to that loss. You think (subconsciously) that loving another pet or replacing the pet would be an affront to the other animals memory. Many pet owner's suffering a recent loss swear they will never get another because the pain of grief is almost too much to bear but eventually you will move on. Nothing really dies as long as it's remembered and it would be unfair to the other animals not to return their love, I am sure they notice the absence too. If you truly love animals, don't you owe it to them to help as many as you can. .
