They don't float away because of gravity
actually the space shuttle, the astronauts, etc. are NOT weightless and experiencing zero gravity. They are slowly, the key word being slowly, falling back toward the Earth. The Earth has an enormous gravitational force. the shuttle doesn't fly near far enough away from the Earth to escape it.
The moon and other planets and their satellites are held in space by the force of gravity from other planets and satellites. If the moon tried to drift off into space, gravitational forces from the Earth will keep it from floating away. It doesn't crash into the Earth because planets and moons pull AGAINST each other and keep each other from drifting away.* * * * *Only partly true. The moon does not float away because of the action of earth's gravity - whether you view this as a force or a distirtion of space-time in the moon's path. The moon does not crash into the earth, not because of other planets or satellites, but because of the momentum of its orbit around the earth.
it would just float away that's why astronauts have to hold on to there food in space but it would be cool to just see your food float away
You cant jump off the moon and land on earth because , there is zero gravity in space , so you would float away
It does - very slowly but surely. Gravity holds it down, and the Earth's magnetic field deflects the solar wind ... but neither one is perfect.
Living in space is different from living on earth because on the space you float and there is no people you can talk to. Also because if we would have the same things as the space we would be floating .As you can see that's why is different.Sincerly:Nancy.m6 Grader
Just like Earth's gravity holds you to Earth, and doesn't let you float away, Mars, too, has some gravity (less than Earth), which won't simply let objects float away into space.
Trillions of them, at least. Luckily for us, distances in space are huge, and the things that can destroy Earth are far away.
people in space and things billions of miles away from the earth.
We would probaly just float away into deep space.
It is the gravitational force from our Earth that keeps our feet firmly on the ground. The further away into space we go, the less influence from the gravitational force from the Earth is felt - so we tend to float.

Telescopes are used to see things that are far away from earth. Using telescopes we can see things that are millions of miles away. Most of the telescopes are on Earth but some of them are in space such as the Hubble Space Telescope.

First it is a common misconception that things "float" in space. Actually everything in space is in a freefall, and when things freefall they appear to be weightless. There is no way to escape gravity, and anything that mass mass has gravity, even if you were a millin lightyears away Earths gravity would still affect you it would just be very very weak . Astronuts in the space shuttle "float" bcease they are so high up that they are falling around the Earth.

they might float away
