The real challenge is in CLIMBING it personally.
I dont no how many but on the 23rd May 2009 Lori Schneider age 52 from USA became the first to have reached the summit of Everest with multiple sclerosis
I dont think so. Expedition companys pay Guides and Sherpa's to take climbers to the summit.
The 1996 Everest disaster refers to a single day of the 1996 climbing season, May 10, 1996, when eight people died on Mount Everest during summit attempts. In the entire season, fifteen people died trying to reach the summit, making it the deadliest single year in Everest history. The disaster gained wide publicity and raised questions about the commercialization of Everest. i think that is kind of "cool". dont you ?
No they dont. Some Sherpa's have reached the summit of Mount Everest without oxygen bottles.

Sir Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Norgay Tenzing first climbed Mt Everest in May 1953. There are many people who climbed the Himalayas before them, but the duo reached the summit first. Himalaya was the highest mountain in the world. Also Mt Everest was the biggest mountain in the world. Mt Everest was named after Sir George Everest. But Sir George Everest died. SO THIS IS interesting.
