its because of the gravity coming from the sun
Because the suns orbit holds the earth and all of the other planets in place.
Because the suns orbit holds the earth and all of the other planets in place.
Because the gravitational pull of the Sun - keeps them there ! The planets are always trying to fly out into space, but the outward pull of the planets is counteracted by the gravity the sun exerts on them. If the sun's gravity stopped - all the planets would zoom off into space !
Planets dont give off light therefore all planets dont give off its own light
The planets would fly off into space and lose their moons and atmospheres. The sun would explode from its enormous interior pressure.
Planets are held in orbit around stars by gravity. Their rotation is balanced by the gravitational pull of the star, so they remain in a stable orbit without spinning off into deep space. This gravitational force acts as a sort of "tether" that keeps the planets in place.
It is half the reason, at least. Gravity is the force pulling the planets towards the sun, but they also have a velocity working perpendicular to it. With the velocity alone, the planets would fly off into space. With gravity alone, the planets would be pulled into the sun.
Planets and moons can be seen because of the light that shines off of them in space.
Gravity.
because they have a gravitational pull
Yes, with no Sun, there would be no large force of gravity to hold the solar system together. Each of the planets would carry on in a straight line (more or less) rather than in an ellipse around the Sun.
The gravity of the Sun pulls on the planets and keeps them revolving in their orbits. The planets are moving at relatively high velocities (between 5 and 48 kilometers per second) and thereby resist this gravitational pull, and there is comparatively little friction in space to slow them down. (*the Earth is moving at about 30 km/sec in its orbit, which is 67,000 mph!)
