Platypuses do not migrate because they do not need to. Three are no Australian mammals that migrate because the climate of the country, though very different in the north and the south, does not reach extremes that require the native wildlife to migrate. The water temperature in the platypus's habitat remains fairly steady all year around, unlike the air temperature. Their burrows, which are very deep, shelter them from cold weather.
