The ancient Egyptian language had no word for "bridge" for the same reason it had no word for "plastic" or "nuclear weapon". All those things were unknown in their culture; since they had no idea what a bridge was, they had no reason to have a word for that kind of construction.

No doubt towards the end of the ancient Egyptian period, under Greek and Roman influence, bridges became common - and a foreign word would have been borrowed and added to the language to refer to them.
